anything meaningful:

--Preznit Bush (R-ADHD) sounds more and more like a bumbling fourth grader than the leader of the free world. seriously... little man mullet, who is only three, has a better grasp of sentence structure and train of thought than our commander in chimp

--the mullet is really NOT looking forward to oil changes in the middle of january. it's just too damn cold to roll around underneath the war wagon

--does anyone actually care about Nick Leche anymore....if anyone ever did?
<br Bush. The man is a phony.

His biography explains a lot. He is the scion of a wealthy New England establishment family. His grandfather and father were wildly successful, both in business and politics. He is likely not one who learned to take "no" for an answer. His journey through the Ivy League was preordained and funded both financially and academically by family tradition. His military obligations were dealt with as such families deal with those things: Calls were made, strings were pulled, outcomes were secured. Even irresponsibly walking away from the commitment was rewritten and covered up. Later, various ill-starred business failures were cushioned, resolved and reversed by the omnipresent family retainers...

yeah, it's so easy to depise Dear have four points to one side. a brow tine can only be considered a legal point if it's a least one inch in length.
needless to say, the mullet saw several bucks on opening day, but not a legal one in sight, except the two the mullet saw other hunters dragging out. this would include the bachelor party that stopped fifteen yards away from the mullet's spot. it's like they have radar and know where the mullet has posted up, so they can stop and taunt me.
the other problem is the PA Game Commish has been selling record numbers of doe tags in the past four years. this, coupled with a concurrent two week rifle season has greatly reduced the doe population on state lands. also, restricting legal bucks to four points in no way guarantees those animals will reach eight points past their second year, so the trend now appears to be plenty of illegal bucks and no doe.

tomorrow is the last day of the regular rifle season, so if the mullet doesn't bag one tomorrow, it's over until next fall. hopefully by then, the mullet will have one of these, which will allow the mullet to hunt while it's still relatively warm.

um, someone forgot to ask Rummy

seems at a recent session of the senate armed services committee, we learn that all of Rummy's crap about sufficient troop strength in Iraq-o-rama is just that: crap, crap and more crap

"We wanted the view from men who had been on the tip of the spear, and we got it," said John Ullyot, a Warner spokesman who declined to comment on what was said at the meeting but confirmed that some Capitol Hill staff members were also present. I knew you could).

with the exception of Chris Cornell of Audioslave, you just don't hear those kind of vocals anymore. the vocals of twenty years ago have been replaced by the guttural wrenching of Godsmack and the like.

the point mullet, get to the point...

the mullet agrees with most of the list, especially Poison's craptastic Unskinny Bop and the Crue's Without You. *barfs*
there are a few other points of contention. for instance Britny Fox's Girl School.

stellar vocals or guitar work? no.
deep lyrcial content? no.
basic three chord construction? sure, but AC/DC has been doin' that for almost three decades without a problem. the point is this tune has it: the hook
so many bands were churned out thru the 80's that most of them missed the point entirely, or never had a clue in the first place. it's gotta have a hook. even lame-ass crap will make it if it has a decent hook (Jesus Jones anyone?).

and another thing. Dokken's Breaking the Chains on the list? sure, Donny's lyrics have always sucked, and he could never wail longer than a forty minute set. but (and it's a big but) George Lynch has always been, in the mullet's opinion, one of THE best axemen of the entire movement. just listen to Mr. Scary from Back for the Attack and you to will believe.

Amen to that.

gas prices suck

nuthin' like seeing crude prices hit an all-time-high of $64.27 a barrel.
for those unclear on the subject, the mullet drive 160 miles each day to get to work. with oil changes every four weeks, that works out to about $300 a month, just to get to work.

rock 'n roll at the whiskey bar

holy crap is billmon on a tear.

first, there's this fabulous bit on the prince of darkness hisself, Bob Novak:

Network executives acted Thursday after Novak's body staggered to its feet in the middle of a joint interview with the mummified remains of James Carville, and vomited a noxious heap of its own decomposed organs directly into the lap of CNN host Ed Henry. First, this is the administration's solution to the spike in terrorist incidents, the Taliban's resurgence in Afghanistan, and the politico-military deterioration in Iraq—to retool the slogan?

Second, the White House and the Pentagon are just now coming around to the idea that the struggle is as much ideological as military? This wasn't obvious, say, three or four years ago?

Apparently not. Eric Schmitt and Thom Shanker, the Times reporters who co-authored the article, note:

Administration and Pentagon officials say the revamped campaign has grown out of meetings of President Bush's senior national security advisers that began in January, and it reflects the evolution in Mr. Bush's own thinking nearly four years after the Sept. 11 attacks.

It took four years for the president of the United States to realize that fighting terrorism has a political component? It took six months for his senior advisers to retool a slogan? We are witnessing that rare occasion when the phrase "I don't know whether to laugh or cry" can be uttered without lapsing into cliché.

holy crap.

holy, holy crap.

the mullet always knew Our Dear Leader was intellectually challenged, but jeebus.

over 1400 killed in Iraq-o-rama, another 10K to 15K wounded, and this is the focus of the mis-Administration? these botards oughta be drug outta town by their short curlies.

I'm stunned. They spoke at a meeting of the Democratic Leadership Council, a prominent group of moderates who helped send Mr. Clinton to the White House in 1992...

Gov. Mark Warner of Virginia said, "Today's Washington fiscal conservative is someone who thinks that deficits can go on forever and that you can make the cost of the war go away simply by moving them off the balance sheet."

Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana accused the Bush administration of "false bravado" and "incompetence" in the way it handled the war in Iraq and its aftermath. "It's obvious that they had no plan for winning the peace," Mr. Bayh said.

Gov. Tom Vilsack of Iowa criticized the administration as "not sharing with us the true reasons for going to war or the true price we would have to pay to continue the war."

ouch, that's gonna leave a mark in the morning. the wingers were quick to respond:

Republicans immediately fired back at the criticisms, mocking the council for reaching out to Mrs. Clinton, whom conservatives have long derided as a symbol of liberal excess.

"The fact that the centrist organization of the Democrat Party would anoint Hillary Clinton anything, exemplifies just how far left the Democrats have gone," said Tracey Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee.

um, let's just take a stroll thru the record, for those wingers who are
factually challged:

Economic Data Shows That the Economy Grew 4.2 Percent in 1999 the fourth consecutive year of 4+ percent growth. This is the longest period of 4+ percent growth since the early 1960s. At the same time, America has created more than 20 million new jobs since President Clinton came into office, enjoys the lowest unemployment rate in 30 years...
4.2 Percent GDP Growth In 1999 GDP growth in the fourth quarter was 5.8 percent. This brings the growth rate for the four quarters of 1999 to 4.2 percent -- the fourth year in a row of 4+ percent growth for the first time since the early 1960s.
Inflation Is the Lowest It Has Been in 37 Years. In the fourth quarter, the GDP price index rose 2.0 percent at an annual rate. For 1999, the GDP price index grew only 1.4 percent. Regular soldiers are spending a lot more than a third of their time overseas, and many reservists are finding their civilian lives destroyed by repeated, long-term call-ups.

Two things make the burden of repeated deployments even harder to bear. One is the intensity of the conflict. In Slate, Phillip Carter and Owen West, who adjusted casualty figures to take account of force size and improvements in battlefield medicine (which allow more of the severely wounded to survive), concluded that "infantry duty in Iraq circa 2004 comes out just as intense as infantry duty in Vietnam circa 1966."

The other is the way in which the administration cuts corners when it comes to supporting the troops. From their foot-dragging on armoring Humvees to their apparent policy of denying long-term disability payments to as many of the wounded as possible, officials seem almost pathologically determined to nickel-and-dime those who put their lives on the line for their country.

Now, predictably, the supply of volunteers is drying up.

the mullet wants all of the wingers out there (and you know who you are) to contact your congressional delegation and senators and demand some accountability. and I don't wanna hear any guff outta ya neither. look who the mullet has to call.

you're just jealous cuz the voices only talk to me

BSTommy has a bad case of writer's block.

Will it never end?

always makes the mullet's heart twitter when his most favorite, um, musician *ducks* is nominated for such as prestigous award as the TCA!!

for a minute there, the mullet thought her overwhelming talent might be overlooked, but there is still hope.

vote now!

Road Trip

SKB has been on a field trip to the Grand Canyon. In particular, the day's heaviest battle, which raged across the districts of Abu Ghraib, Amariya and Khudra in western Baghdad, suggested that Iraq could be in for a summer of violence as Shiite religious leaders heading the new government seek to impose their authority on insurgents who find refuge and support among the dispossessed Sunni Arab minority.

In the space of 30 minutes in midafternoon, the insurgents responded to attempts by government forces to cordon off the capital's western districts with a sequence of attacks. They appeared to catch Iraqi forces by surprise, and prompted commanders to call for back-up from American troops garrisoned nearby. Iraqi witnesses said Apache attack helicopters with loaded missile racks swooped overhead as the insurgent attacks flared into protracted gun battles below. Some witnesses said they had seen the helicopters firing, but no confirmation of those accounts were available from the United States military.

yessir, right where we want them.

Interesting

haven't had but one post in a coupla months, but sitemeter still shows over one hundred hits, including a coupla government URL's.

have I made the terrorist watch list?

It's been a while

yes, I know it's been months since the mullet has posted, but life has a way of rearranging your priorities. first and foremost, when little-man mullet (he's looooong past the baby mullet stage) decides that going to and remaining asleep at night no longer is a priority, everyone suffers.
couple this with the long hours of a DBA and a 160 mile daily commute to work has made thing, um, exhausting. type='text'>trouble for The Hammer

according to the WaPo, the continuing ethics saga of Dennis Hastert will continue to plague the current congress. It would appear as though the donkey has grown some spine. to wit:

Democrats said they do not plan to allow the ethics committee to organize until Republicans repeal a series of rule changes they pushed through in January, making it more difficult to initiate an investigation unless at least one Republican member supports the probe...
The standoff followed a Washington Post report that DeLay accepted a trip to South Korea in 2001 from a group that had registered as a foreign agent. House rules prohibit members from taking gifts from such groups. The ethics committee has admonished DeLay three times in the past year for official misconduct, and some ethics experts believe that the latest revelation could trigger another investigation...
(emphasis mine)

yep, nuthin' like a little graft to get their tighty whities all in a snit. read further and you'll see this:

The 10-member House ethics panel, formally the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, is unique among committees in that it is split evenly between Republicans and Democrats. Democrats are resisting rule changes the House made in January that make it more difficult to open investigations. Until January, a tie meant that an inquiry was automatically triggered, now a majority must approve it.

and finally, there's this gem:

Ron Bonjean, communications director for House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), said it was unclear last night how the logjam could be broken. "Democrats have chosen to shut down the ethics process," he said. "It's up to the House Democrats to put the ethics process above partisan politics."

the mullet sometimes wonders what they're somking up on the hill. bipartisan commission, but it's the Crats who are, um, partisan, or mean, or something.

the mullet wants

one of these.

giddeeyup.

so much has changed

so, the mullet has been gone for nearly a year. there has been many trials and tribulations, not the least of which are preparations for leaving the mullet's home town due to a work induced relocation.
since the mullet now has to drive nearly 200 miles a day to get to work and back, I will not have much time to post during the week. The GOP gets to sound all progressive and pro-young worker, when they really are screwing them as thoroughly as possible.

see, this is where credibility, or Dubya's lack thereof, comes into play. when all you've got is smirky rhetoric (WMD's anyone?), you've got nothing else if your plan is simply to borrow boatloads of money. oh, and lest we forget, we're already borrowing enough money now to finance current government spending to finance several small countries. jeebus, the preznit couldn't even put the cost of the war on terra into this year's budget, like it was a surprise or something.

Social Security

Just in case you were wondering, all the hoopla over social security is ridiculous.
